Alewives & Ales B&B, Damariscotta, ME: With a name like this, you know beer must be the focus of this B&B! Through June, your two-night, three-day stay includes an introductory course in brewing craft beer from the former owner of Emerald Isle Brew Works, Ltd. in Rhode Island. The rate is $350 for two adults, including accommodations, daily breakfast, and a beer-making seminar.
Sherwood Forest B&B, Saugatuck, MI: Through October 29, enjoy the chance to brew your own batch of beer at the nearby Saugatuck Brewing Company. Work with the brewmasters who’ll offer more than 70 different recipes from summer wheat to red ales to rich porters. You will be provided with ingredients, professional brewing equipment, and brewing expertise, allowing you to create at least 11 gallons of beer (sixty 22 oz. bottles). Return two weeks later to bottle, label and sample your beer. This “Bed, Breakfast and Brewery” package includes two consecutive nights of accommodations, daily breakfast, and the beer making experience that includes materials and hand-crafted beer to take home. This costs $512 to $695 depending on the time of year and the room.
Inn at Ellis River, Jackson, NH: The innkeepers here encourage beer lovers to ‘hops’ to it and book the “Beer-Cation” offered weekends through September 23. Start your stay with a glass of local Tuckerman’s Ale and cheese served on souvenir stoneware coasters that are yours to keep. On Saturday, check Tuckerman’s brewery (Voted ‘Best of NH Brewery Tour’ by New Hampshire Magazine). A three-course dinner Saturday evening will include your choice of one of five regional beers on tap. Depart Sunday morning with the inn’s special recipe for beer bread. The two-night package including lodging, daily breakfasts, afternoon refreshments, pub welcome, brewery tour, and dinner one evening for two ranges from $339-$559 until June 30 and $359-$619 July through September 23, depending upon room selection. Stirling House, Greenport, NY: Available now through October, the "B4" (B&B&Brew at its BEST) package offered in this waterfront property includes a complimentary tasting at Greenport Harbor Brewery – just “hops” away (available weekends only) with a three-night stay. An explanation of the brewing process, tastings for at least three seasonally crafted beers and a take-home souvenir glass are all included free for guests staying three or more nights. Nightly rates of $229-$320 per room include a full breakfast.
Forty Putney Road B&B, Brattleboro, VT: Every Saturday night guests are invited to join this inn’s Vermont Beer Tasting. Seven differently styled Vermont beers from seven different breweries in the GreenMountainState are paired with such light fare as locally made salsas, cheeses, and more. The tasting takes about 90 minutes including a fun and trivia-filled "Beer 101" with resident beer geek Tim Brady, co-owner of the inn and founder of www.HereForTheBeer.com. The beer tasting is $15 in addition to room rates of $179-$259 at this beer geek retreat.
