Guys Weekend Getaways

  • There's a reason why people still look back at the "Wild West" in a romantic sort of way and luckily for us, the Wild West isn't completely dead... it still exists in pockets around the country like Ogden Utah.

  • Known as the Mormon Mecca, Salt Lake City doesn’t top many mancation destination lists — but it should! With its November through April ski season, low rates, incredible outdoor activities, and impressive whiskey joints, Salt Lake City is a solid choice for a long weekend with the crew.

  • There's no better destination for guys looking for a petrol and adrenaline-fueled guys getaway than Dubai. This is probably the single best spot in the world if you want to see exotic cars of all types, colors, and shapes from police cars to million-dollar cars parked at the mall... and then there are the one-of-a-kind offroad beasts too. While most of you are far from that level of wealth, Dubai makes a perfect destination to visit if you are looking to see some amazing sights and even wrap your hands around the steering wheel for a bucket-list adventure!

  • Growing up, Panama City Beach was THE spring break destination and while those days are (sadly) in my rear view mirror, Panama City is still a great place for guys looking for adventure. From an absolutely beautiful white sandy beaches, fishing, bars, and other things that guys will love, this is a place that should absolutely be on your radar when planning your next guys weekend getaway.

  • In the past few years, it seems like virtually every casino in Southern California has transformed from a gambling hall to a full-on "Vegas-style Resort". Ironically, one of the largest casinos in the country, San Manuel Casino is among the last to embrace this trend (though they have their own hotel resort opening next year). Instead, they have what superficially seems like just another business hotel set in a commercial development. Looks can be deceiving though and Bear Springs Hotel is a fabulous property for anyone looking for a guy weekend getaway where they can do off-roading during the day and hit the tables at night.

  • Often times when it comes to planning a guys weekend you think in terms of "big cities" and forget about the fun in smaller regions of those metropolitan areas. These communities such as Irving, Texas can either be a destination itself... or a great basecamp making it easy to travel between hotspots in Dallas, Fort Worth, Arlington, and other areas around the "Metroplex". We joined a bunch of our blogger friends for an awesome trip to explore Las Colinas area in Irving, Texas and frankly I was surprised at how much fun stuff there was to do in what I initially thought was just a business park.

  • Of all the cities in the United States, it's hard to find a better mancation or guys weekend destination than New Orleans. The Big Easy – which deserves its nickname, by the way – boasts some of the best restaurants, music clubs and bars in the world, all in a fun, eccentric, party atmosphere.

Guys who like fishing and golf will be amazed at the opportunities for outdoor recreation during the day. There's so much to do, you and your buddies might have to make the New Orleans trip an annual ritual.

  • Virginia City is a wonderful place - it's a step back in time to a wild west town that is shockingly authentic feeling. This isn't some movie set like other "ghost towns" you might have met, it's a real town that was once the richest place on earth and still has more than its fair share of colorful residents, saloons with names like "Bucket of Blood", festivals ranging from outhouse and ostrich racing to the "testicle festival", mini tours, and of course haunted hotels you can stay in... if you dare.

  • There are a lot of ways a father and son can enjoy a guys weekend getaway. Let's look beyond activities like watching TV or playing pool in the basement. This is time that you can spend together learning, sharing, and building memories, so let's make it count. Not sure where to start? Here are a few suggestions to help you out.

  • As the 4th largest city in the nation, Houston has something for everyone. You’re bound to find some great adventures in a city known for its chart topping comfort food, world-renowned rodeos, and rich history of space exploration. In addition to all these attractions, Houston sits right on the Gulf of Mexico, offering an array of activities from fishing to water sports and relaxing beach days. Spending the day in downtown Houston discovering the impressive architecture is an activity in itself.

  • Sideways is one of the greatest Guys Weekend movies as far as I'm concerned. It's raw and fun - without being stupid and silly like tends to be the the case all too often. Most of all though, it highlighted one of the most fabulous parts of the country - the Santa Ynez Valley, including Santa Barbara and Solvang. This is an absolutely gorgeous part of California that is located just far enough away from Los Angeles to be a different world... but still close enough for a quick getaway. Let's take a look at how you can walk in the footsteps of Miles (Paul Giamonte) and Jack (Thomas Haden Church).

  • Aside from the destination itself, deciding where to stay is probably the most important thing to determine. Typically for me this has ended up being a hotel room or a resort villa but another great solution for a group is a vacation rental such as the one we stayed in on Anna Maria Island, Beachy Villa Vista provided to us by Island Real Estate.

  • Florida is one of my favorite places to visit and it is filled with hundreds of golf resorts, beautiful beaches, incredible food, and in the past few years a beer scene that has gained national recognition. When planning your Florida golf guys weekend though, it's important to pick the right places, so here's a few of our top picks.

  • Well maybe not 500 ways in this article, but you might be surprised to learn there are easily 500 great experiences awaiting you in Indianapolis. Certainly experience no. 1 is the Indianapolis 500 race weekend.

  • The Crawford Hotel, Denver’s newest independent luxury hotel located inside the revitalized Denver Union Station, has partnered with two of the Mile High State’s top independent wine and spirits makers - Stranahan’s Colorado Whiskey and Infinite Monkey Theorem - to offer exclusive new “Colorado Curated” packages.

Stranahan’s Colorado Whiskey is one of the first whiskeys made in Colorado since Prohibition ended. Master Distiller Rob Dietrich sources primarily local Colorado malted barley for fermentation and distillation, and the spirit is then cut with Rocky Mountain water.

  • Give dad the ultimate Colorado weekend this Father's Day – two rounds of Vail Valley golf, an exciting whitewater rafting trip and a bottle of locally made whiskey - with the new Whiskey, Whitewater & Woods package from the award-winning Westin Riverfront Resort & Spa at Beaver Creek Mountain.

  • San Francisco — the birthplace of the fortune cookie, the place where not a single bank failed during the Great Depression, and the city that was once part of Mexico until the Mexican-American War of 1848.

Yes, over 800,000 people call this wonderful city home. And why wouldn't they? Average temperatures rarely dip below 45 and rarely peak above 70, which means you can do just about anything you want all year long.

You and your buddies can easily take off for the weekend (or the week) and take in some of the following experiences.

  • If you aren't familiar with Carmel California, I bet you are familiar with it's cousins of Pebble Beach and Monterey. Don't worry though, there's a lot to offer in Carmel itself including a great beach, great food, unparalleled driving experiences in Big Sur, sports, and of course it is one of the most dog friendly cities in America. Oh yeah and many celebrities call Carmel home so don't be surprised if you see them walking around town including Brad Pitt and former mayor of Carmel, Clint Eastwood.

  • Ready to spend a guys weekend in "America's Finest City" and party like rock and roll royalty?

If that sounds like a great idea then I suggest that you check into the Hard Rock Hotel, set in the heart of San Diego's Gaslamp District. To those of you who have never been to San Diego, the Gaslamp is the downtown area adjacent to the convention center and Petco Park filled with bars and restaurants of all types.
