Gear and gadgets from smartphones to backpacks
  • If you wear prescription glasses but love to dive, one of the most frustrating things is not being able to see clearly underwater. Sure, I could use contacts but I don't really like the way they feel in my eyes and so I've had to settle for a sub-par experience while snorkeling - until now. San Diego-based SportRx contacted me and asked if they could help, so I accepted their offer of a Sea Vision Ultra dive mask featuring lenses matching my prescription for our trip to Cozumel last month but I didn't really know how much of a game changer they would be.

  • In an age dominated by expensive headphones costing hundreds of dollars, it’s easy to forget that at the end of the day – headphones need to feel comfortable, sound good, and look good, too … but they also need to be affordable.  Motorola Pulse Escape+ headphones are exactly that, at only $69.99. This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Motorola.

  • Everyone jokes about getting a crappy gift but what if that was actually the point? We looked around and found some of the shittiest gifts around, which is your favorite?

  • When I told friends and family that I was invited to go see a smart house configured by Cox Communications with all their awesome Cox Homelife goodies and those other smart home companies, they all asked me if it was going to be like The Jetsons’ home. I had to laugh because many of us still have the Jetsons’ in our heads when we think about smart homes when in reality it is not that extreme and much more interesting. While there were gee-whiz experiences such as the ability to travel the world through VR and personal helper robots, it's exciting to realize that these things are all here today and able to help make our lives better as we age.

  • There are many gift guides out there, but this one is a little different. Instead of simply looking at gifts for guys... we have a great gift pack curated by our friends at Babbleboxx that is perfect for sending to someone that you know needs a vacation. In fact, that's just what we did this weekend while visiting Bradenton, Florida.

  • This summer, the folks at Transitions invited me to get a pair of their glasses and test them out. As someone who has been a long time Transitions Signature lenses wearer, I didn't really "need" new glasses but I was curious about the other photochromatic lens technologies that were offered beyond what I already enjoyed. In particular, while I LOVED the flexibility of Signature... it really didn't eliminate my need for true sunglasses and so I ended up still carrying them with me. Transitions XTRActive however, promised to be darker and work better while driving. To test them out and provide an honest review, I've been wearing them exclusively for the past two months. I'm hooked!

  • You've seen the commercials, you've probably even laughed at the concept of wearing "sun glasses at night" but how do these yellow tinted "Night Drivers" actually work? The folks over at Solar Shield sent us a pair of their Night Drivers to try out, here's what we learned...

  • Samsung wants to Change the Way You Charge and has some great deals on new Samsung chargers that work great with Galaxy phones. There's nothing quite as disappointing as seeing your phone blink off and together... they are here to help end that feeling!

  • When it comes to gaming headsets, you want something that sounds great, extremely comfortable for long gaming sessions, and is affordable. My neighbor and I did a bunch of research today and came away from our marathon gaming session very pleased with the Stealth 600 from Turtle Beach.

  • Women write me all the time asking for tips on what to buy for the men in their lives and honestly, I don't think we're that hard to shop for - but apparently we are. Most guys I know love cars though. Even if they aren't a grease monkey who works on their car in the garage, most men enjoy thinking about, looking at, and comparing cars. This means that car related gifts are among the easiest idea when shopping for a great gift for guys.

  • Halo - the company you might know better for it's Halo Board and other products has now entered the drone market as well and we think it looks really cool. They claim it is the "Best Drone" out there right now and we're looking forward to following up with an actual review shortly. However, we're pretty excited just based on the specs! With advanced features that make it user friendly for guys who travel such as seven different follow modes, an interchangeable 4K action camera, and the ability to fold up for easy transport, this drone one to consider for your holiday gift lists.

  • One of the things that's frustrating about traveling is not being able to stay in touch with my favorite TV shows. You can never count on your hotel TV to have a specific channel and even if it does, chances are you won't be in the room at the right time, so what's a guy to do? That's where Sling TV comes in and it's a perfect option for cord-cutters as well as those who simply want another way to enjoy TV without being tied to your living room.

  • With the hot days of summer rapidly coming to an end, it's time to start thinking about how you will be spending those cold winter days. For many of you that means spending time in the garage or shop getting home improvement projects done. Even if it's more of an excuse to spend some man time alone, rather than actually getting a DIY project done the simple fact remains - this is a great time to start thinking about what tools you might want to add to your collection this year!

  • Are you a wilderness nerd? Meaning, you love both nature and technology. If so, this list is for you. The following 10 items are guaranteed to enhance your next outdoor adventure by providing you with stunning aerial photographs, clean drinking water, and tasty espresso (no matter how far from civilization you find yourself). These high-tech gadgets are small enough to fit in your backpack, so you can take them with you anywhere and ensure your next wilderness adventure is one that’s powered by high-tech.

  • Summer's almost over, but there's still time for one more getaway before the weather starts to turn cold. The following are a few of my favorite apps that help me travel better and save money.

  • Have you visited a garden or resort recently where you see thousands of pinpoints of light projected up into the trees or on the side of a building? I had seen this effect several times, but I didn't know what they were until recently and now I can have that same effect in my own home and yard with BlissLights!

  • Thank you Deer Lord! for sponsoring this post. Grab your new edition of Deer Lord! social party game, available through Target retail stores starting July 30.

Are you clever enough to claim the title of Deer Lord? We got a chance to try this new game out last week and the answer in one round was YES I was clever enough - but I got bested often. Win or lose though, the four of us had a blast and the game is really unlike others that I've tried since it is great for a mixed group of people without being offensive or risque like other similar games out there. Instead, challenges included "Duels" such as who can stuff many objects into their mouth as well as who can do the best dance move, while "Dupes" asked us to secretly laugh at something or open a door - without other players catching us!

  • One of my favorite parts of Comic Con is getting a great free shave from the folks at Schick. I know that might sound lame but they've been my "go to" experience every year because well, it's free and having a professional give you a great shave is a pretty awesome experience. Every guy should have a professional shave at least once. This year, Schick is over in the Interactive Zone by Petco Park and not only are they giving out free shaves and tons of great swag but they have an awesome escape room experience too.

  • Last week we were invited to check out the launch of Samsung's new Chef Collection Appliances in San Diego at the Pacific Coast Builders Conference and we were impressed by what we saw. Samsung, continues to take it's dominance in the mass-consumer space and is now extending it into the high-end market as well with appliances that are as beautiful to look at as they are functional.
