Pro Surfer Conner Coffin Talks Surfing and His New Movie Mind Surfing
Surfers are a fascinating group of people that are often misunderstood but maintain an iconic position in our American folklore and indeed the fabric of California lifestyle. To some they are hooligans and burnouts that just hangout on the beach because they can't find a job but the reality is that many of the surfers that I've met are hard working, brilliant people who while they might sneak out of work if there's good waves - are often thinking days and weeks ahead, monitoring swells from storms thousands of miles away. Conner Coffin is one of these folks that I love to celebrate and apparently our friends at Firestone Walker 805 Beer do as well since he's the star of their latest production, Mind Surfing.

A Perfect Vintage Explores What Made 2013 Napa Valley A Perfect Year For Wine Growers
One of the more complex and misunderstood aspects of why certain wines are revered as works of art while others sit on a spectrum from very good to god awful is that no matter how talented the winemaker may be, Mother Nature is ultimately in control. While you can select locations for grape growing that will produce various subtle notes, you aren't always guaranteed to get the perfect product. In 2013, Napa Valley's conditions were as close to this as we've seen and this new production by Vision Films helps to tell that story.

The Last Duel Review
The Last Duel is a thoughtful, complicated story about one of the last sanctioned trials by combat, that hits hard with poignant commentary when it is at its best, but is a boring, poorly paced slog when at its worst.

Sideways Inspired Santa Ynez Valley Guys Getaway Wine Weekend
Sideways is one of the greatest Guys Weekend movies as far as I'm concerned. It's raw and fun - without being stupid and silly like tends to be the the case all too often. Most of all though, it highlighted one of the most fabulous parts of the country - the Santa Ynez Valley, including Santa Barbara and Solvang. This is an absolutely gorgeous part of California that is located just far enough away from Los Angeles to be a different world... but still close enough for a quick getaway. Let's take a look at how you can walk in the footsteps of Miles (Paul Giamonte) and Jack (Thomas Haden Church).

As a San Diegan, I oscillate between dreading the week each summer when Comic-Con dominates our lives and being overwhelmed with excitement to see friends, learn about new movies, games, and other cool stuff that comes out this week including parties! Sadly though, this year is not like others and people are forced to stay at home. Don’t worry though, we’ve got some great ways for you to still celebrate the fun and excitement virtually.

31 Wicked Christmas Movies You Won't Find On Hallmark Channel
So, by now you're probably sick and tired of those syrupy sweet Christmas movies with princesses, puppies, friends who fall in love, and poor people who discover they actually have rich relatives. While you are probably thinking about the debate about whether or not Die Hard is a Christmas movie (it is!), there are tons more wicked Christmas movies to enjoy too!

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker Review
A frenetic, grandiose and mostly exciting effort that is about as good as anyone could reasonably hope for. But given the fact that it has no interesting characters, no worldbuilding, no coherent overarching plot, and the previous installments gave it no setup to work with, that’s not saying much.

Frozen 2: Let It Go Again
As any parent can sing for you, Disney’s 2013 smash hit Frozen cemented Elsa, Anna, Olaf and Kristoff solidly in their canon of central characters, and Idina Menzel’s Grammy and Oscar-winning “Let it Go” written by Kristen and Robert Lopez in every parent’s musical rotation. With nearly 1.3 billion dollars at the box office, the sequel was inevitable, and here it is. But will it hold up to the original?

The Addams Family Movie Review
Sure, you could go see the Joker or any number of other scary movies that are in theatres this time of year, but with the world as crazy as it is today there is something nice and refreshing about a movie like The Addams Family and it's even better when you can kick back, relax, and enjoy it with more than just popcorn at your side. That's why I love visiting Theatre Box here in San Diego.

Avengers: Endgame - Marvel Nails the Landing
It’s almost hard to remember back to 2008 and Robert Downey Jr’s introduction as the now-classic iteration of Tony Stark, followed shortly after by Chris Hemsworth as Thor and Chris Evans as Steve Rogers, but here we are, almost 11 years later, and the saga of The Avengers has its final chapter. For now, of course. But what we have is a highly entertaining, action-packed, appropriately sweet and sentimental end for these actors in those roles that is fairly certain to satisfy everyone who has remained a fan of the series.

Captain Marvel Review
Captain Marvel is a good film for kids, with positive messages for them about not giving up, and plenty of action to keep them entertained. For adults? It’s fun, and it’s not awful. But it’s not especially good, either. Captain Marvel hits and misses with the comedy, and doesn’t have much meat to its story, so it really just ends up as a passable actioner that sorta coasts on inertia.

Avengers Infinity War Review
In what Marvel Studios likely expected to be this year’s biggest film before the box-office dominance of February’s Black Panther, the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) teams up two directors with about two dozen superheroes in an intergalactic battle against Thanos, the giant purple genocidal maniac bent on collecting the six Infinity Stones which will allow him to control reality and unleash is evil plan upon the universe. And the only people standing in his way are Iron Man, Spider-Man, Captain America, Thor, Hulk, Star Lord, Gamora, Drax, Rocket the Raccoon, Scarlet Witch, Black Panther, Black Widow, Purple Horseshoe, Doctor Strange- you know what, let’s just say “a lot of characters,” and one of those was a cereal marshmallow anyway.
