  • They are here to stay and while they have gotten faster, smaller, and more connected than ever before, it seems like they still suffer from some of the things that they always have - short battery life and that you are forced to trade off between "rugged" and "sexy". With all the advances in technology, surely the brilliant engineers can apply themselves to fixing these two issues instead of simply adding more features.

  • Coke is one of my favorite brands because even though it has largely remained unchanged for more than 100 years it somehow still possesses that unique American feel. It's a confident drink that has maintained an incredible brand that elicits that feeling of comfort, warmth and friendship. So when I heard that they launched a new line of cans featuring "nicknames" instead of actual names, it got me excited. Who would I share these with? Who's day could I make a bit brighter by participating in #ShareItFordward?

  • The other day I was introduced to a new site called ProOpinion where they have tons of information about business as well as information about jobs and the economy. ProOpinion also offers members a variety of different ways to help shape the information contained on the site by participating in surveys in exchange for rewards including gift cards. I know not all of you run your own businesses but this site seems like a great source of information to help you get ahead in your career, negotiate better deals, and be a better interviewer too.

  • I travel a lot! Regardless if it is a long vacation or short day trip, one thing that is constant - I am concerned about my loft when I'm not home. While I trust my neighbors and management company, the reality is that other people have keys to my home and I've always wondered if they came in and visited while we were away. Similarly, I think virtually every doggie daddy has wondered what our fur babies do while we are gone.

So, for the past 3 weeks I've been testing Arlo out to answer some of those questions...

  • It's almost summer and that means it's time to break out the grill again and hopefully shine as the dinner time hero you know you are. However, even the best grill masters out there didn't get that way without some practice, common sense, and advice passed down to them from their elders.

Smart & Final! is one of my favorite places to shop, especially when it comes to entertaining. It's the perfect place to start if you are planning a family BBQ this year but even when planning a nice romantic dinner for that special someone, it's a great place to shop. The thing I love about Smart & Final! is that they they have some great private label brands and since they carry warehouse sized items at great prices.

  • It's always daunting when you start the process of looking for a new car. No matter how much preparation you put in, it almost always feels like going to battle or at very best a poker game. Today though, the auto industry is going through a transformation just like mobile phone carriers have recently and I think that's pretty exciting since I HATE to be locked into something for 2-5 years like a traditional lease would.

I think this is pretty exciting for anyone with kids especially since it's an easy way to get a first car and then be able to swap it out for something different when they go off to college or get a better job and can afford to move up from that 2005 Toyota Camry to a 2010 BMW :) Average down payment is $895 and you have the ability to return it whenever you need to - there is no long-term commitment.

  • Travel isn't always the most "green" of activities. The very definition of it typically involves spending tremendous resources to get there - by car, airplane, or ship - and once you get there how often do you consider the environmental impact of the water consumed to keep that green so beautiful or where the wrapper from your burger will go once you toss it in the trash. This isn't meant to be a "downer" article, but simply an opportunity for us to look at some of the easy things we can do to travel more green this year.

  • Guys - I hate to break it to you, but your wife talked with mine and asked for some help. They HATE playoff beards and some of the other gross rituals we tend to do around tournament time. However, they both promised - on behalf of women everywhere - that if we shaped up and invented some other way of celebrating our favorite teams that they'd make it worth our while! I think that's a great idea, so I propose that instead of looking ratty and gross we practice taking care of ourselves - not just working out at the gym or running an extra lap, but taking care of the outside of our body the same way our favorite basketball players train their bodies to shoot, pass, and dribble.

Afterall - it's important to remember that when your favorite NCAA® players score, it isn't "luck"... and it it isn't when you do either...

Think about that for a moment.

7UP is a great mixer that should be on your holiday shopping list right there next to lights and mistletoe and so I was excited when I was invited to join this campaign to share with you some of my favorite cocktail recipes using it.

I'll admit it, I am not always the most organized traveler. That goes doubly so when packing for a mancation vacation with my friends. Typically, I just throw some things together into my backpack or carry-on and that's it. Unfortunately, this typically results in clothes that are crumpled and messy at the other end. In a best case scenario, it means that I will end up leaning on the bag to try and force more clothes into it than the bag thinks should fit.

  • As I look back at photos from Christmas of the past I realize just how much things have changed compared to today, a world where mobile phones are nearly ubiquitous, data plans are cheap, and even great handsets like the Samsung Exhibit from Walmart Family Mobile can be purchased for under $100 without a contract.

  • Choosing a new laptop is tough, but it used to be a lot easier - Windows or Mac right? Today there is a third option - Chrome but with all the great attributes (lower price, easy to use, light and portable, long battery etc.) comes one really complicated but sometimes hidden attribute... the processor that runs the whole thing. On the surface it would seem that wouldn't make much of a difference but this IS a laptop and you need a chip designed for that... not a chip designed for one thing at a time like on your tablet or mobile phone. Truthfully, this is a sponsored post on behalf of Intel but I've been wanting to write this for a while to share my story and why I love my Toshiba Chromebook with an Intel processor!

Thanksgiving is fun, you get to spend time with family, drink and eat a bit too much, watch football, boast about your accomplishments of the past year and then do dishes, struggle with what to do with leftovers, juggle too many dishes and not enough space... Wait? What? That's not fun but it tradition and if you are brave enough to try something new there's a great option this year from the folks over at Buca di Beppo - one of my favorite restaurants.

It's ironic sometimes - I love my dog, Niki Belle, and I love food too but for some reason it never really passed my mind to try and give her something new. When she was a puppy we gave her the dry dog food the vet recommended and 10 years later never changed (aside from moving her from puppy formula to senior formula a few years back). When I had the chance to try this #OneSmartDifference campaign from #CollectiveBias, I jumped at the opportunity to change things up without any risk since if she didn't like it I didn't waste my money trying something new.

  • Poker night or a guys night out at the bar drinking and smoking... those are usually the only two options that I hear but I have an alternative idea. How about a guys movie night?

  • Downpour.com has asked me to share information about their new audiobook rental program that works with iOS and Android devices. You probably remember books on tape and you may have even used some while on a long road trip, but technology has moved on and now instead of a plastic cassette you can download the books directly to your phone or tablet and take it wherever you are.

  • Watches - yeah, I used to have one back in the day... you know, those cheap plastic ones that we all had in school. Over the years though as cell phones have become ubiquitous there was less and less need to actually have a timepiece on your wrist. Pulsar Watches invited me to check out one of their latest watches and so I decided to give it a shot and see what it was like to wear a watch again.
