Blogging can be a lot of fun ... but it's also a lot of hard work. While it's easy to dismiss people who constantly share amazing photos of them doing incredible things, it's a business. Luckily, I've learned a lot over the past decade and here are some of my tricks and advice that I'd pass on to anyone looking at blogging as more than just a way to share their random thoughts with others. If you are looking to succeed and get all the fun "perks" then you need to work hard. Here's how you can make that happen!
Well, that’s what we’re going to cover off in this post. Because in this day and age, you can definitely start to treat blogging more like a business. You can quite comfortably make money from blogging and create your very own media empire from it to. But, in order to do that, you have to start taking things much more seriously. It doesn’t matter if you’ve been blogging for a while, or you are just going to start a new blog today – because you can really look to create something fun that you’re passionate about. Here’s how.
Define Your Niche
The very first thing that you need to think about doing, is making sure that you know your niche well enough. Do you know what you want to cover? Do you need to choose a niche if you’re new? Or do you even need to think about redefining your niche to help you get more specific about the content you’re producing and the direction you’re going in?
Set A Goal For Yourself
The next part of the process that will allow you to take your blog a lot more seriously, is for you to set a goal. Do you want to make money with your blog? Do you want to get to a certain number of followers? If so, then set this goal in place and think about what steps you need to take in order to make this happen.
Rebrand Your Blog
When you’re thinking about the look and feel of your blog, it’s also important to make sure that you are creating a brand around it. Because, you want the image to represent the kind of blog that you’re putting together. If you already have a blog and you feel that it doesn’t quite mirror the image you’re looking to build, then starting the rebranding process could be great for you. That way, you’ll blog will look more professional.
Create A Consistent Schedule
Another thing that is going to help you to make this happen, is for you to think about posting more consistently. It’s just so important for you to be able to make sure that you’re able to show up on a regular basis. And blogging more consistently is a great idea for this. If you have a set schedule of when you’re able to going to post, say Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, then you’ll be able to get more consistent growth because of it.
Push Your Marketing
Now, if you’re looking to grow, then it’s safe to say that marketing is important to you here. You need to make sure that, first of all, you are actually marketing. But then also, that you’re looking to use the platforms or that tactics that help you to grow in the best possible way. Because it’s more important to use the right methods, than to try and use all of them!
Try Advertising
You may also want to do some paid advertising as well. You can think about doing banner ads, but maybe advertising on Google with Adwords can get you results? Even doing pad social media posts might get you the kind of traffic and awareness that you’re looking for too.
Create A Launch Campaign
Now, when you really want to be able to make sure that you’re taking your blog to the next level, you’re going to want to think about launching some new products. Because there are lots of ways that you can make money online, not just with content. You can create books and courses as well! Butt, if you want to really make sure that you can ramp up the excitement about that, then launch emails can help you.
Network
Next up, you’ll also find that it really helps you to blossom and grow with your blog when you network. When you work online and you work alone, it’s easy to think that you don’t really have the opportunity to network – but you do. You can easily network with other bloggers and online entrepreneurs to connect and grow your business. The more you interact with others, the more you’ll learn and the more opportunities you’ll get to.
Position Yourself As An Expert
As a step on from that, you’re also going to want to think about positioning yourself as an expert at what you do too. Now, this can often seem difficult to do. But if you’re networking in your niche, you’re writing articles on other sites and going to events and speaking, it’s easy to do it.
Grow With Your Goals
Finally, you may then find that you’re getting closer to that goal you first set for yourself – or, you’ve reached it already, and that’s amazing. But at the same time, you also need to be able to grow from here too. Because you’ll stagnate otherwise. So try to be a bit more ambitious. You want to take your blog seriously, right? So why not set yourself a huge earnings goal? Or say you want to write a book? Make sure that you’re pushing yourself out of your comfort zone, to make sure that you’re growing.
