tips to save time and be more efficient

The morning is often seen as one of the most pivotal points of the day. Starting your morning off in the right way can really have a positive impact in the rest of the day. You may feel more productive, get things done and feel on top of things. However, on the flip side if you were to start your day in a bad way, such as getting up late, not eating or simply rushing around and having a negative mindset, then this to will impact the rest of your day and not in the way you would like. It can all start in the morning, and choosing to do things that work for you to ensure that you get off on the right foot is essential.

However, not all of us are morning people, and not all of us are great at utilizing the time that we do have. I get that. So I thought it would be handy to share with you some ideas and tips on how you can start your morning right, and some of the best time saving ideas to help you manage to do while still being a man on the go and in demand. I hope some of these ideas help you in the future.

Let’s talk about clothing

Thinking back to your standard morning, I think we can all agree that choosing what we are going to wear can be one of the decisions that take the most of our time. With weather to consider, and perhaps a certain type of clothing that needs to be worn, you would think that it would be easy, but actually we can ponder over our choices for longer than is necessary. Therefor using up valuable time that could be put to better use elsewhere. So here are some of the ways you can make quicker and better decisions.

A capsule wardrobe

One of the best ways to get rid of the uncertainty about what to wear is to create a capsule wardrobe for things like work. It gets rid of the bigger choice you have, which can actually be one of the biggest reasons we take our time. A capsule wardrobe is created by investing in key pieces for the style of clothing you need to wear. Trousers, shirts, a few ties maybe, some accessories like a watch, there are some great military watches for men online. But what this does is gets rid of the choice, enabling you to mix and match a few key items and create different looks through the choice of colors, patterns and textures of materials.

Deciding the night before

Choosing what you want to wear the night before can be a huge time saver for you in the morning. Plus, having had your whole day, you are probably more likely to make a snappier and informed decision on your clothing than you are feeling a little less alert first thing in the morning.

Being ahead with chores like ironing and washing

It may sound obvious, but actually being ahead with things like washing and ironing can also be a big time saver for your mornings. It means you are less likely having to prepare clothes and get them looking pristine and smart, as they will already be lined up in your wardrobe waiting to be worn.

Let’s talk about breakfast

Breakfast is one of the most important meals of the day, but because of a lack of time, you are less likely to eat anything and skip the meal entirely waiting until lunch. This isn’t very good for you in terms of your health and your physique. You are supposed to eat one of the biggest meals of the day at breakfast time, as it gives your body ample time to digest the food more effectively. Therefore less likely to sit on your stomach and eventually cause you to gain weight. It may seem like a big ask to eat a full meal first thing in the morning, but there are ways that you can ensure you get all the right nutrients and vitamins from your breakfast meal, without the need to spend too long slaving away in the kitchen.

Preparing the night before

One of the first things you could consider doing would be to prepare breakfast the night before. Things like overnight oats are a great way to ensure you get a balanced breakfast that doesn’t need much preparation even the night before. There are a lot of recipes online to help you create the right combination that you enjoy. You could also create smoothie bags and freeze them, ready to be taken out on the morning and whizzed up. You could include all sorts such as kale, banana, strawberry and other fruits. Combine with milk or coconut water and you have a balanced breakfast on the go.

Making it the most important meal of the day

It may sound silly, but breakfast really should be one of the most important meals of the day, so while you are trying to save on time, you should also factor in some time to enjoy your breakfast and have a moment to yourself in the morning before the mad rush of the day really begins. Enjoy a coffee and breakfast while reading your emails or the morning paper. Use the time to make a mental note of the things you need to get done that day, or use it as a planning time to write down what needs to be done.

Starting your day off right

It is very important to start your day in the right way, and there are ,many ways you can do it, you just need to find the right things for you. I have a couple of suggestions that could help you get started and create your own morning routine that will work well for you.

Getting up a little earlier

No one wants to get up any earlier than is needed, am I right? But the truth is the earlier you get up the better start to the day you will have. Even half an hour earlier can give you the precious time you need to enjoy your breakfast or do other things to kick start your morning the right way. It is a simple thing to do but could be very effective. It is best to start gradually, as getting up earlier can take its toll on you in terms of tiredness. For example, trying five minutes earlier each week until you are at the time you feel comfortable with and gives you what you need.

Choosing to exercise in the morning

Exercise is a very important aspect of the day, and actually doing it in the morning is one of the best times to do it. You feel refreshed for the day and pumped up thanks to all those endorphins raging around your body. Whether you choose a small workout or a run locally, it could be the best way to start your day.

Don’t snooze the alarm

Many of us will agree that we can all be a little guilty of snoozing that alarm clock, but it is really counterproductive. You don’t gain anything from it, you simply doze back off to sleep for a few minutes and then get woken abruptly once more. It actually can have a negative impact as you may even feel more groggy.

Let’s talk about the night before

You can also prep for the morning by thinking of ways to make the most of the night before. If you are organised in the evening, then you are more likely to have a smoother morning when you get up. It also gives you some extra time as you are less bothered about some of the smaller things that are already done and ready for the morning ahead. Here are some of the best ways to prepare the night before.

Getting to bed a little earlier

It may sound a little obvious, but getting to bed earlier can help you have a better night's sleep and also help you get up earlier in the morning. Which if you are taking advantage of extra time, could really help you make that happen. It doesn’t need to be drastic, but a quick rework of your evening routine and even heading to better even ten minutes earlier could make all of the difference to your morning.

Avoiding too much alcohol and caffeine

Alcohol and caffeine can actually be stimulants to your mind, so drinking too much of them the night before could really impact the quality of sleep you have and also how you feel in the morning. Alcohol especially can have a negative impact on your morning as you may wake up feeling dehydrated and not at your best.

Thinking ahead for the following day

Finally, prepping the night before can save you time if you get things ready like bags you need or equipment you need to leave your home with like phones, tablets or laptops. Having them at the door saves you time in the morning and allows your morning to run smoothly.

I hope that this has given you some ideas on how you can start your morning the right way.
