# NEFT Vodka Review *By James Hills — Updated August 2024* As a passionate explorer of unique spirits, I'm always on the lookout for bottles that can transport me to far-off places. NEFT Vodka caught my eye with its distinctive barrel-shaped packaging featuring bold cerylic lettering evoking a Soviet / retro-USSR feeling. While vodka has a tendency to be flash over substance, this was certainly a product that offered a promising a journey before I even opened it for a taste test. ## Functional, Collectable Packaging and Design NEFT Vodka's standout feature is its eye-catching packaging. You'll immediately notice the distinctive barrel-shaped container that sets it apart from other vodkas on the shelf. This unique packaging isn't just for show however. It is actually designed with both style and function in mind. The aluminum barrel mimics a Russian oil drum, giving NEFT Vodka a rugged, industrial appeal that's sure to spark conversations at your next gathering. In fact, the name NEFT is "oil" in Russian and the brand is sometimes referred to as "Vodka from oilmen for oilmen" as a nod to the hardworking men and the importance of this natural resource to both the Russian economy as well as the men who are employed in the industry. While Russian oil today has a somewhat negative connotation due to it's role in helping to fund military aggression on behalf of the Russian state ... don't worry, this is an Austrian product today and it blends the best of Russian vodka heritage with the best Austrian glacial water and rye. However, this uniquely shaped and collectible 750ml metal "Oil Barrel" packaging also serves a purpose. Its shatter-proof design makes it perfect for outdoor adventures, whether you're camping, tailgating, or hitting the beach. You won't have to worry about broken bottles ruining your fun. Plus, the insulated barrel actually helps keep your vodka chilled for up to six hours, ensuring a crisp, cool, refreshing spirit to sip - even on hot days. ### The Ultimate Guide to Planning the Perfect Philippines Guys Trip blog post about tips for planning an epic Philippines guys trip this year ManTripping [Read More](https://ads.flowmediamarketing.com/go/sby8v38THt1yMTZdcDJXuQ.1489) ### Cruising Alaska with Norwegian Cruise Line on NCL Jewel What to expect when on an Alaska cruise with Norwegian Cruise Lines, based on our sailing on NCL Jewel. Afterall, a similar amount of Belvedere or Grey Goose is typically less than $25. ## Man Gear Pick of the Month September's Pick Amazon (affiliate) ### Kenyon City Grill Portable Stainless Steel Electric Grill Why we picked it: a grill you can actually carry to the campsite, the tailgate or the cabin without borrowing a truck. Opinions on vodka vary widely. There are people out there who swear Tito's is the best and others who would only go for a Polish rye vodka like Belvedere. On the other hand, vodka today is actually a pretty diverse category for those like myself who are passionate about nuance. For example - it shouldn't be surprised that rye, wheat, potato, and other bases will produce vastly different tasting vodkas. Similarly, the vast majority of people are looking for a mixer and any nuance will be covered up anyhow. So in that scenario, it's really about the way it makes you feel. People like Tito's because they think it's premium, while others think Grey Goose is the pinnacle of vodka because it comes from France and is made with grapes. Here ... honestly the flavor doesn't matter. If it was a great spirit then I'd love to tell you that. I just don't like it for sipping. However, if you want to use it for doing shots during your fantasy football [guys weekend](https://www.mantripping.com/guys-weekend.html) or adding to your mimosas and bloody mary on tailgate mornings ... go ahead. It works great for that and will look super cool on your table. It isn't that it tastes bad, I just didn't prefer it. However, NEFT was awarded 98 points from The Tasting Panel and rated Best Vodka at the 2018 San Francisco World Spirits Competition. When you take your initial sip, you'll notice an initial sourness and I think that's what threw me off. After that initial experience though, it has the expected spiciness of the rye and then NEFT's tasting notes unfold with flavors of melon, dates, vanilla, and star anise, creating a layered experience that'll keep you engaged. Certainly, this is a good vodka for martinis and other drinks where you want to blend it with flavors but not necessarily cover up the spirit itself. ## Production Process and Ingredients At the heart of NEFT Vodka's distinctive character lies its meticulous production process and carefully selected ingredients. You'll appreciate knowing that this vodka is crafted in the Rhaetian Alps of Austria, using artesian spring water that's been filtered through layers of rock for centuries before bubbling up to the surface. This pristine water source is combined with four types of non-GMO rye grains, ensuring a foundation of quality that you can trust. It's then refined using a carbon-layer filtering system, contributing to the smoothness you'll experience with every sip. What's more, NEFT doesn't add any sugars or flavors, allowing you to taste the natural sweetness of the ingredients. This commitment to quality and authenticity is something you can feel good about. When you choose NEFT Vodka, you're not just selecting a drink; you're joining a community that values craftsmanship and purity. It's a vodka that reflects your discerning taste and appreciation for the finer things in life. ## NEFT Is An Eye Catching Travel-Friendly Vodka So, we've explored [NEFT Vodka](https://neftvodka.com/) a bit now ... from its distinctive barrel-shaped packaging to its premium flavor profile that features top-quality ingredients and a production process that’s garnered industry recognition, this is a vodka that stands out in the premium market but ironically the spirit inside is almost irrelevant since folks should buy it for the packaging alone. While the price might be higher than some competitors, NEFT’s innovative packaging makes it a great conversation piece to keep on your shelf, or an excellent choice as a birthday or groomsman gift for a buddy. Plus, its unique packaging is perfect for taking it with you to places where glass bottles aren't an option. Consider if these qualities make NEFT worth your next vodka purchase.
