Advice from dad and important tips for men that you wish your dad had shared with you as a kid!
  • Wow, you're almost there and it's time to take a break - right? Nope :( Taxes are really an all-year type of thing and the good news is that if you take this perspective then it makes your spring a whole lot easier to manage. One of the big differences between Block Advisors and "just a tax preparer" is that they take a higher view of your finances and that's important for anyone running a business - no matter how small it might be.

  • With the weather warming up, a bunch of you are about to hit the open road for Spring Break and even more of you will be planning family vacation trips this year. While you are going to be saving money almost immediately by avoiding air travel, that's just the beginning. As someone who has been enjoying road trips since I was a little kid, I've learned quite a lot about this subject and look forward to sharing my best advice with you!

  • Back when I was younger, taxes were easy - I went to my dad and just told him what my income was and with a few squares filled out and a handful of signatures I was off to the post office to get my refund. Today though, things are different and pretty much everyone I know has a part-time gig of some sort. Whether they are working with a ride share company or have a blog, there are all sorts of things that you need to consider all year long to make sure that you are set for tax season.

  • Golf as a game is almost as mental as it is dependent on your skill and talent, so here's a few tips to help you have the best golf game possible. Ultimately, it's up to you and what you want to get out of your golf game. There's no reason that everyone needs to be a pro able to compete on an international circuit. The most important factor is that you enjoy what you are doing and have a great time.

Sadly, over the past ten years, I seem to see more and more veterans in wheelchairs or with artificial limbs. Others have even more severe injuries. These aren't "old guys" with normal ailments, but younger guys too... ones that have sacrificed their youth and vibrancy for the relative peace and prosperity that we enjoy at home. While I think most of us welcome them in our hearts - it is sometimes difficult to express our gratitude to veterans in general... and only gets more awkward when they happen to be disabled. Hopefully these tips will help make things easier the next time you are in a meeting, dinner party, or simply sitting next to each other while waiting for the bus to work.

I travel a lot and it seems like this fall I've been on the road almost every week for one thing or another. Heck, I was in the Caribbean last month but unfortunately I still had to work. That means bringing with me a bunch of gear including my laptop so I thought I might share some tips with you about how I manage to travel safe - while still working.

  • Winter is coming and that means that you are about to put away your leaf blowers and string trimmers but also prepare your winter gear like snowblowers, chainsaws, and generators. When I was younger I thought it was simply enough to empty the gas from these machines and store them away where it was dry. While that's is still important, over the years I've learned that the harsh winter conditions need more preparation than this to ensure that my machines are ready to fire up again in the spring.

  • One of the most important social things that a man can do is to make a great toast and so that's what we're going to be talking about today. From capturing your audience's attention with the right sentiment to ensuring you have the right champagne for the moment, there are a lot of elements that go into making that moment special.

  • I stay in a lot of hotels. For better or worse it's the way I roll these days and while some are better than others - they all fundamentally work the same way. So, let's look at some of the tips and tricks to help make sure you have an awesome experience on your next trip.

  • Are you getting ready for fall by dusting off that rake and raising the mower blade to mulch leaves? While you are getting ready for fall chores don't forget to check your tires too. After a long summer driving on hot dusty roads, you need to make sure that they are ready for the ice and snow that's coming soon.

  • Gas isn't as expensive as it once was, but for those of you who own trucks like the Toyota Tundra, every little bit helps. Here's some advice for getting the maximum gas mileage from your truck.

  • You have just managed to secure yourself a game room, a man cave... a haven that will play host to your friends and plenty of fun hours. The only thing that’s missing is the décor, so just how do you go about creating the ultimate sports themed game room?

Well guys, you are in luck as we are about to take you through some fantastic suggestions that will make you get to your feet and head straight into your game room, ready to start work.

  • It's back to school time and as I look around, I see so many cool things that the kids today have that I wish I did 20 years ago. Probably the biggest change I see is that everything today is digital and it isn't just a laptops. The kids today have tablets, photo frames, music players, digital cameras, and probably other devices that I'm just not cool enough to know about. Despite our age differences, there is some wisdom that I'd like to pass down to our kids and to the young guys out there to help them become King of the Campus.

  • Can you believe it? Summer is almost over and that means that it's time to pack the hibachi grill, fill the cooler with ice and head out to the parking lot to pre-game with your buddies. Football tailgating is a legendary ritual for many of us, so here are some tips on how to do it right. With skill, practice, and creativity, your football tailgate might even be awesome enough to not just get the appreciation of your buddies but the looks of jealousy from other guys around you. Are you ready to get started?

  • If you are anything like me, road trips and snacking are synonymous and that can either be a fun experience for everyone involved... or like I found out a couple years ago, not so much! See, normally I'm pretty straight-edge and go for cookies or crackers, and maybe some Twizzlers Twists or other candy that doesn't melt. During a stop in Maytag, Iowa though I was overcome by how cheap Maytag blue cheese was and so I just had to buy some. Let me tell you - after a few hours sitting on the dashboard a few things happened. First - the car smelled really bad. Second - I started to feel sick (eating blue cheese in a hot car during the summer is just dumb). Third - my brand new car earned it's first "love mark" since the cheese melted a bit and the enzymes and grease ate a spot on the dashboard that two years later I still can't get rid of!

  • Summer is here and while it might be time to enjoy a cross-country road trip, a day at the beach, or a late night looking at stars from the back of your pickup truck, this is GO TIME! for your car. Heat, direct sunlight, severe weather and more can all combine to present a direct threat to your car, in more ways than one.

  • Are you planning a trip this summer? If so, I think it is awesome that there are so many new options for dog friendly hotels, restaurants with dog friendly patios and at least here in California you can even take your dog into a lot of retail stores too. Niki Belle loves to travel with me and one of her favorite things to do is look out the window as we do so.

However, no matter how dog friendly a destination is, you've got to get there somehow. These five Road Trip Tips provided by Milk-Bone and Milo's Kitchen should help make that new road trip even more enjoyable for you and your best friend!

  • Sure, the weather is great outside right now, but that doesn't mean that now isn't the time to start planning for the winter snow that is just around the corner. Bummer, yeah I know!

Winter is a period when time slows down and laziness sets in. It can be easy to blame your laziness on the weather and kick back and stay indoors but your body is not going to be easy on you just because it’s cold outside. We often sit through the season and find ourselves completely out of shape at the end of winter. Well, it doesn’t have to be that way. Winter can be a great opportunity to engage in an activity that you usually won’t be able to indulge in.

  • Summer's officially here and so here's some tips to help you look your best during this sunny season. Now’s the time to refresh your closet with a few summer style essentials. To get you started, here are some top fashion choices for the coming months.

  • Raise your hand if you'll be taking a road trip this year. Probably most of you reading are planning a trip with the family or maybe out with the guys and you've likely thought about the importance of checking your oil before you go but it's also critical to consider the part that actually keeps you on the road and safely between the lines. Yup, that's right - I'm talking about your tires!
