Travel ideas for mancations, guys weekends, and romantic getaways
  • This year's annual road trip is going to be a long one and we're setting off to explore virtually all of the Western States in style with Ford who has provided us with a 2017 Ford Explorer Platinum Edition. On our trip, we're going to be exploring national parks including Glacier and Yellowstone as well as fly fishing in Montana, a Def Leppard concert in Salt Lake City, and other adventures along our nearly 4,000 mile route!

  • Chase Guttman is an award winning travel photographer and a drone photography pioneer who has traveled the world and frankly achieved success by looking at things from a different angle. We had a chance to chat with me and learn more about how his craft and some of the awesome places he loves to visit.

  • This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of A/C Pro. All opinions are 100% mine.

For many of you, summer is synonymous with road trip season and under normal circumstances that can be a challenge to stay cool. However, I love adventure and sometimes that takes me on some pretty extreme trips as far as temperature goes. If you are like me then it makes sense to do what you can to keep your car in the best shape possible so it does what it is supposed to do for you. Just as important as a great road trip destination is ensuring that you stay cool and comfortable inside - even when temperatures outside might soar well above 100 degrees!

  • For many people Iowa is one of those states we've only seen from 39,000 feet as we fly over it and notice all those green fields of corn. Despite having family that had once lived there, that was about all I knew of it until I drove through the state a few years ago on my way to California. At the time I was surprised at all the cool stuff in the state but didn't have a chance to explore it more until last week when I was invited to join Travel Iowa on a quick tour.

  • Prior to my trip to Ukraine last week, I was extremely nervous - the question in my mind for weeks was, "how bad will Ukrainian International Airlines be?" There's no getting around the facts that this is a small national airline with fairly old aircraft and budget prices. At least in terms of flights to New York from Kiev, it is a "cheaper" way for people to go home to see family and for a handful of business people that want to avoid connections in Europe on the major carriers. If you want a cheap direct flight from New York to Kiev this is your only option and depending on which cabin you happen to have selected seats in you will have a dramatically different perspective on the flight.

  • Our culture has graduated from man caves to mancations, and many guys are tying in their bro travel to sports. But it's gone far beyond a double header or a weekend snagging two NASCAR series at the same track. Now it's multiple events at multiple venues, and baseball has proven to be a perfect sport for it.

  • Last year was a sad one for anyone who enjoyed "animal shows". Not only did we lose the Shamu shows but other similar acts such as those found in circuses shut down as well. Faced with this change in audience demands, SeaWorld - an organization that has always done great work with conservation and research - had a tough choice. On one hand, they had custody of these amazing animals that simply can not be safely returned to the wild after decades of domestication. On the other, they knew that the age of "animal entertainment shows" was over. Ultimately Orca Encounter isn't going to make the eco warriors happy, but I think it does a great job transforming the Shamu show into something more appropriate for today's audiences. Don't worry though - you still get to see jumps and if you sit in the first few rows, you will still get soaked!
  • I take a lot of road trips each year to explore different places. There's something exciting about exploring and seeing not just tourist destinations but all those spots in between. Unfortunately taking photos through the window of a moving car is among the most challenging shots to take but with a few quick tips, you can make sure that your shots look great!

  • At a certain point, the standard golf trip gets sort of boring and you start looking for a new adventures with the guys. Thankfully, in recent years airfare to Iceland has become unbelievably affordable. This has quickly transformed this once tiny and forgotten island in the North Atlantic into an exotic adventure destination that everyone can afford to visit.

  • Some vacations are meant to see something specific and others are meant to escape from it all. At one of the more than 100 Montana guest ranches, you can do both. While it's easy to be cynical and think of these properties as nothing more than "guest ranches" where you can go and sip scotch on the porch while watching people pretend to be cowboys for your benefit - this state has a vibrant ranching industry beyond tourism too.

  • Bucket-list experiences don't just have to be for the rich and famous. Most of these Instagram celebrities you see don't actually own those yachts and planes you see them on either. However, being in the "it crowd" feels good and has a tendency to open doors that others simply can't imagine. Think of it this way, where better to find a group of people with private yachts than in a marina that you just pulled into in the yacht you chartered for vacation? Let's take a look at some ways you can build up a Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous experience, without having to win the lottery!

  • One of my favorite parts of traveling to a new area is trying new foods and traditions around dining. What I found while visiting the state, sponsored by Arkansas Tourism, frankly was confusing and exciting at the same time. While I expected BBQ and soul food, what I found along side those staples was completely unexpected such as cheese dip, fried tamales, and chocolate gravy!

  • It seems to be a hot topic these days among my friends. There's a feeling that our "United States" may be beyond repair and it's time to seek greener - or at least snow covered pastures living among our neighbors to the north. Between the stunning scenery, forward-thinking culture and diverse climate, there's no reason to not want to settle down in Canada. Whether you're a native Canadian or you're looking to call the Great White North home, you have plenty of options to choose from when it comes to finding a safe, fabulous place to raise a family.

  • When I first shared with friends that I was heading to Arkansas, the first thing most people asked was, "Why? What's there?" Honestly I didn't really know what to expect aside from some music history and hopefully some good BBQ. After spending four days in the Delta region I can't wait to go back.

  • Many travelers find it easy to dismiss "travel insurance" and choose to roll the dice hoping nothing will go wrong. Unfortunately, stuff can and does happen beyond your control that can wreck your journey. The more I talk with the people behind the policies though, it becomes clear that they are people like you and I that just want to go out and explore new places and bring back amazing stories each time they travel.

  • Summer is almost here and like most of us, I'm sure you are starting to plan your vacation schedule for the upcoming months. Really though, why limit yourself to just the summer months? There are adventures you can take all year round, so it's time to make room in your schedule and change some preconceptions you might have about your travel schedule!

  • Nothing is more Americana than cruising across the country in an RV. For decades, families and groups of friends have gone on epic journeys that don’t involve checking luggage and waiting in long security lines. Instead, an RV gives you the freedom of the road and all the possibilities you may come across along the way.

  • When most of us plan vacations, we're focused on seeing tons of awesome stuff and a go go go schedule. However, there's a different sort of vacation that can be equally great. I guess you could call these ideas a "sleepcation" and that's OK! Your body needs a chance to relax an recharge, something that is increasingly more challenging in our modern life where we're surrounded by electronic devices and distractions that keep us up late and wake us up early.

  • I tend to be a major advocate for a cruise lifestyle. Simply put, I LOVE the experience of being on a boat, but I know a lot of guys who aren't convinced that a cruise is for them and not every line or itinerary is. However, last fall I had the chance to explore the Rhine thanks to Viking Cruises and I still can't believe how many opportunities there are for guys to have an amazing time on this route!

  • Phoenix in the spring is a pilgrimage destination for all guys (and women) that love baseball. There is simply no better place in the world that you can go to experience the pure joy and excitement of the sport unspoiled by commercialism and the pressures of rankings. For a few weeks, it's just about playing the game and seeing some amazing young talent playing their hearts out along side seasoned veterans serving as their mentors. This is a destination that I try to visit each year, so when the folks at Toyota invited me out to celebrate in the sun with them I excitedly accepted.
