# Holland America Line Koningsdam And Other Crew Members Receive First Vaccine Doses In San Diego *By James Hills — Updated May 2021* We made our first visit to a cruise terminal in more than a year and it felt good to know that slowly ... but surely ... cruising is getting back on track. During this event, 120 crew from Holland America Line's Koningsdam received their first dose of the Pfizer vaccine, along with several other ships anchored offshore. It might be silly sounding, but even just something we take for granted like the sound of a cruise ship captain talking to a group of people was a welcome sign of returning to normality and the smiles on the faces of crew members ranging from chefs to engineering to officers in their dress whites just made this event even more special. Koningsdam will be home ported in San Diego starting in October 2021 through April 2022. It is one of Holland America Line's newest ships and is the perfect choice for wine lovers since not only will it be offering Pacific Coastal cruises with stops in Santa Barbara, Monterey, and San Francisco ... but also Baja California's Ensenada which is only a few miles from one of the most exciting California wine regions - Valle de Guadalupe.  Plus, onboard guests will have a chance to sample from one of the best wine lists at sea and even take part in [BLEND by Chateau Ste. Michelle](https://www.hollandamerica.com/en_US/onboard-activities/cruise-activities/blend.html). We haven't had a chance to do a wine blending experience at sea but have done it privately. For any true wine lover, this will be an experience of a life time as you get to create your own vintages that can be enjoyed later at dinner or on your private veranda. We hope to share more about this once we sail with Holland America later this fall but it is truly one of those special ways that Holland America offers guests something different than any other cruise experience available today. ### Western North Carolina is the Perfect Spot for a Guys Getaway Western North Carolina is a perfect spot for a guys getaway of fishing, craft beer, and road tripping through the mountains.
