Fitness and health information
  • Whether it’s summer or winter, training is probably still a huge part of your routine; the only thing that changes is what you train in! It’s finally time to put away those oversized, warm hoodies and start looking for some summer training gear to make sure you’re comfortable.

  • Premature ejaculation or PE is the number one most common men's sexual health problem. Let's face it - we've all gotten a bit overexcited and couldn't control ourselves. It's not fun, it can be awkward, and sometimes a bit messy. One of the challenges that we face as men is that because so much of our "male image" is tied up in sexual prowess, that failure to perform is something often shrouded in mystery, myth, and bravado. Let's take a look at a few of these myths as well as some treatments that will actually work to help you last longer.

  • Last month, I turned 41 years old and with many of my friends in our 40s now there are all sorts of new conversations that I once thought were only for "old people". Prostate health is one of those topics, but it really should be something that even younger guys are aware of beyond the dreaded "prostate exam" that can come as a surprise the first time your doctor decides to check it. Despite the uncomfortable nature of the conversation though, it's important that men of all ages consider the importance and a healthy prostate and do what we can to avoid and/or cope with prostate cancer.

  • All too often, I simply just throw a toothbrush and a few other items into my backpack and away I go for a quick trip. That works for a guys weekend, but when you are headed out somewhere fun with that special person in your life, it's important to put a bit more thought into packing. Here's some toiletry kit essentials that you need to pack to ensure the perfect romantic getaway.

  • Colds... everyone hates them and most of us get one at least once per year. Despite this being one of the most common sicknesses, most of us really don't understand what it is or even why they are called colds in the first place. Let's take a look and learn some cool facts about colds.

  • Your body is a machine that needs the proper fuel to function. Unfortunately, our diets don't always allow us to get the nutrients we need. In other cases, science has discovered that to reach peak performance it's necessary to supplement our diet with additional nutrients beyond what we've historically used. One of these that is incredibly important today is Omega-3 Fish Oil. This is a word that we hear all the time, but what exactly is it and how can taking an Omega-3 supplement help improve a man's health?

  • As fun and exciting as travel can be, it almost always causes disruptions to your existing routines. Most notably, these include eating, exercise, and sleep schedules - all things that are essential for maintaining a healthy lifestyle. For people with diabetes though, these are more than just minor disruptions and so it's important to consider ways to maintain your routine and plan for those inevitable disruptions before it becomes a major issue needing immediate attention.

  • Cruise ships are an environment unlike any other when it comes to the spread of disease. You have sometimes as many as 8,000 people from all over the world crammed into a boat together for a week or more. That means that each elevator button, hand rail, tongs in the buffet, counter tops are touched thousands of times each day and unfortunately, not everyone is 100% healthy. While you can protect yourself from others, sometimes it is YOU who is the sick one. Here's what to do if you catch a cold while on a cruise ship.

  • Let's face it, no matter what your plans are for an epic mancation adventure with the guys - something as simple as a cold can ruin everything. Fortunately though, there are some easy things you can do to avoid a cold (or at least reduce it's duration and intensity). Here are some of my favorite tips to make sure that being sick doesn't ruin your fun!

  • Everyone knows that exercise is important. Your health depends on you exercising on a regular basis. Unfortunately, if you lead a busy lifestyle, squeezing in 30 minutes of exercise isn’t always easy. The good news is, there are plenty of tools to help you get the exercise you need and keep you motivated enough to exercise on a regular basis.

  • With the weather turning cold, I know that many of you are looking at your basement or garage and thinking how nice it would be to build a home gym - rather than trudge through the cold for your daily fitness routine. Let's take a look at how you can do things right!

  • Last week, I spent a few days exploring Idaho with my wife - Heather from ChickVacations. This adventure was a bit different than others we have taken since we traded hotel rooms for a campervan. Don't worry though, it was an awesome experience and like so many things in life - I didn't want it to get over too quickly.

  • To the uninitiated race fan, it might seem like a top NASCAR driver like Matt Kenseth is simply doing what we all do every day - just a whole lot faster. While it's true that he's driving a car, there's a lot of training and physical fitness involved that makes him and his crew able to do the amazing feats you see them do on race day. For instance, in some turns a driver will experience 3 G's of force - making a 160 pound driver weigh 480 pounds in a turn. On top of this, the in-car temperatures can reach 120 degrees and yet they still need to be alert and able to response with lightning quick reflexes as they race around the track at up to 200 mph.

  • Staying healthy is critical to having a great travel experience - whether that's for business or pleasure. Inevitably though you are going to have situations where something goes wrong. This makes it essential to prepare ahead of time and educate yourself.

  • Many of us men aren't really comfortable with medical stuff in general - and when it comes to testing our sperm there's an extra level of resistance. I don't think anyone really wants to go to a doctor's office and jerk off in a closet and the thought of doing it at home and running across town is even more awkward. On top of this, I think most guys naturally assume that fertility issues are the women's responsibility. That's not fair, but that is how our society generally engages with the topic. With Trak though, it does more than just allow you to run an at-home semen analysis to count up your sperm, but also has guidance on how you can improve your count too.

  • A get together is never complete until someone pulls out a guitar and starts to make music. Beach bonfires, pool parties and other activities benefit from music and since it is difficult to pack a grand piano to your impromptu soirees, a guitar is the perfect instrument for people who enjoy spontaneous get togethers.

  • Your eyes are important - that shouldn't be a surprise to anyone but sometimes it's easy to forget to take care of them. While traveling, this is especially important when visiting harsh environments that are extremely hot, dry and dusty such as the desert.

  • One of my favorite parts of Comic Con is getting a great free shave from the folks at Schick. I know that might sound lame but they've been my "go to" experience every year because well, it's free and having a professional give you a great shave is a pretty awesome experience. Every guy should have a professional shave at least once. This year, Schick is over in the Interactive Zone by Petco Park and not only are they giving out free shaves and tons of great swag but they have an awesome escape room experience too.

  • Tattoos can be a right of passage... a mark of manhood, or it might simply be a stupid mistake you made when you are young. For others it is a way to permanently remember an event in your life. Whatever the reason you've decided to get ink, inevitably you will get to the point in your life when you want to remove part or all of the art.

  • The key to exercise is persistence. Once you decide that you’ll start working out you have to apply yourself and not give up when things get a bit difficult. In order to get the most out of every workout, you should be prepared beforehand. This means having an exercise routine that covers the entire body and gives you enough time to recover and recuperate each week. Also, make sure your gym bag is always packed with anything that you might need while you’re there, so you can focus solely on the exercise.
