inside activities for a dad to do with children on a rainy day

If the weather outside doesn’t look great, sometimes the best thing to do is stay in and enjoy yourselves within the comfort of your own home. Instead of letting your children do things on their own to amuse themselves, why not get involved and do things together? There are so many different things you can do within your home, that are both creative and fun at the same time. From a games day together to a movie day in with a takeaway as a treat, below are four things to do with your kids inside when it’s raining.

Movie Day

Bring your blankets, pillows and duvets downstairs, get yourself comfy and let your kids choose a film of their choice. If they have been really good you could order a takeaway for them to look forward to after watching the movie, or before if you are going to have snacks. A movie day is a great way to spend time with each other and to forget about the miserable weather outside. It’s also very cost-effective and won’t cost you a lot of money, making it a very budget-friendly activity.

Games Day

One activity that is fun to do with your kids when it’s raining is a games day. Bring out your favorite board games and spend hours just being silly and having fun with each other. It’s a great way to bond and just like a movie day, it isn’t expensive. If you know the weather isn’t going to be nice in advance, you could always treat your kids to a present that you could play together. Maybe some minifigures from ToyPro or a new boards game that you can play. If you have a games console maybe a new game for that, this way you got hours of fun trying something new.

Baking Together

Baking is educational and so much fun, plus you get the reward of eating what you’ve baked after you made it. If the weather isn’t looking nice, why not spend the afternoon baking? You can choose to bake your favorite cakes together and have a friendly competition on who’s tastes and comes out the best. You could even invite other family members around for dinner and then surprise them with the cakes you’ve made for dessert. It may get messy but what’s more fun than messing around with the flour, or trying the ingredients whilst mixing them.

Arts and Crafts

Get the creative juices flowing and spend some time doing some arts and crafts together. There are so many different things that you can do, from dressing up to face painting, jigsaw puzzles to building your own forts or drawing and hand puppets. Be creative and have some fun together. Arts and crafts are a great way to try something new and to watch your children put things together that they haven’t done before.
