E.C.D. Automotive Design, known for its bespoke Land Rover Defender rebuilds, has delivered a California Compliant Series IIA with a range of modern elements and classic features.
This custom Land Rover Series IIA, named Project Shilo, is a Mercedes Desert Sand build with a Santorini Black roof. To complement its exterior color, the build has a black Front Runner roof rack with four LED spotlights, a classic black Land Rover mesh grille, and a classic front bumper with a Warn winch. While heritage in style, Project Shilo has a fully upgraded performance system with a California Compliant GM LS3 engine with an automatic transmission. Riding on 18” 1983 Kahn wheels, Shilo’s drive is also smooth thanks to its EBC Fast brakes and upgraded E.C.D. Air Ride Suspension.

Inside, Project Shilo has a set of Corbeau Trailcat front and middle seats wrapped in a gorgeous and warm Garret Spice leather. The Garret Spice leather also wraps around the two inward-facing bench seats in the build’s rear, giving it a total seating capacity of 8. Between its captain middle row is a custom, partially extended E.C.D. center console with A/C and two cup holders. Its interior and exterior door handles are metal and painted in a satin black to complement its other black exterior features. To add to the build’s classic look, it has a Momo Indy Wood steering wheel and All American Nickel gauges. It’s more modern touches include a JL Audio sound system, wireless charging, a 110 V outlet in the rear, and USB charging points throughout.
“Project Shilo is a superb example of a modern classic. This vehicle is reminiscent of the Camel Trophy Landrovers with the desert sand colorway, but comes with all the modern luxuries you’d expect in a new Range Rover,” says Co-Founder Tom.
