Tucson, Arizona is one of the hidden gems for a guys trip. It’s a perfect distance for road trips from Phoenix and while a bit farther from San Diego and Los Angeles, it’s an easy drive for guys looking for golf, history, culture, and of course great Mexican Food!

Lafayette, Lousiana is a different sort of part of this great country. While it's "south"... it's not entirely "The South". It marches to a different drummer with unapologetically male food and rugged adventure ranging from airboat tours through the swamp to exploring the cultural heritage of the Cajun people and of course enjoying some delicious Cajun food ranging from boudin to crawfish and cracklins!

Growing up, Panama City Beach was THE spring break destination and while those days are (sadly) in my rear view mirror, Panama City is still a great place for guys looking for adventure. From an absolutely beautiful white sandy beaches, fishing, bars, and other things that guys will love, this is a place that should absolutely be on your radar when planning your next guys weekend getaway.

Norwegian continues to impress me. I had the opportunity to celebrate the launch of Norwegian Encore with them in Miami last month and it is absolutely the best ship out there for a guys weekend getaway. When most guys think of taking a wine weekend getaway their minds shift to Santa Barbara, Sonoma, or Napa but there's another area that I've recently become excited about. Temecula, California is located the perfect distance between Orange County, San Diego, and Los Angeles and is rapidly coming into its own in terms of vinoculture as well as tourism opportunities in general. Ok, so this is a different sort of article. Typically I go explore fun new places and report back to you guys about all the fun stuff I saw and did. This time though, I'm writing about how I wish I had more than just a few hours to explore a new town but can't wait to go back again soon. Kansas City has been on my radar for a few years now. Unfortunately, a visit just hasn't come together for me. This time however I had a chance to fly in for a quick meeting and then spent a few hours driving around before heading to the airport. What I found was a surprisingly diverse, sports-obsessed town, with world-famous BBQ, and a pretty great craft beer scene too.

However, I got a chance to spend a few days here last week and like a lot of "stopping off points" there's some cool stuff to explore and fun people to meet. If you’re even remotely into cars, performance or special events (and who isn’t) then winging your way on over to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway to catch the final regular season Monster Energy NASCAR race is something you need to do. Mustangs, Camaros and Camry silhouette-bodied cars battled it out during the Big Machine Vodka 400 in a make or break event for drivers to win their way in, or earn enough points to make the 10-race playoffs that determine the 2019 Monster Energy NASACR Cup.

A road trip with the guys to explore some new part of the country seems like a slam dunk choice of a guys’ weekend getaway. Unlike flying somewhere, there’s no big upfront cost to worry about and that gives the immediate notion that it’s a cheap way to spend some time together. While this is generally true, road trips have some significant expenses that you need to take into consideration such as price of fuel, wear and tear on the vehicle, food, and lodging along the way.

In the past few years, it seems like virtually every casino in Southern California has transformed from a gambling hall to a full-on "Vegas-style Resort". Ironically, one of the largest casinos in the country, San Manuel Casino is among the last to embrace this trend (though they have their own hotel resort opening next year). Instead, they have what superficially seems like just another business hotel set in a commercial development. Looks can be deceiving though and Bear Springs Hotel is a fabulous property for anyone looking for a guy weekend getaway where they can do off-roading during the day and hit the tables at night. 

When most people think of a "guys' trip," New York City does not come to mind. However, sometimes if you want to go outside the box, you have to think within it. Not that NYC is much for conventions, but because it's a popular tourist destination, it's hard for individuals to imagine having a truly fun and unique experience there. Yet, the Big Apple has so much more to offer than the Empire State Building or the Statue of Liberty. The BMW Performance Center in Thermal, California (Palm Springs) is one of my favorite places to visit. It's an interesting experience that sits in a great middle ground between a "racing school" and an "exotic driving experience". While those two ends of the spectrum tend to dominate this space, on both of my visits to the Performance Center I've found that their staff and facilities scales well to what the client wants and needs to learn. What I like about this approach is that your takeaways will be far more valuable than simply a a big smile on your face. These are skills that will ultimately make you a better driver and a better man.

Often times when it comes to planning a guys weekend you think in terms of "big cities" and forget about the fun in smaller regions of those metropolitan areas. These communities such as Irving, Texas can either be a destination itself... or a great basecamp making it easy to travel between hotspots in Dallas, Fort Worth, Arlington, and other areas around the "Metroplex". We joined a bunch of our blogger friends for an awesome trip to explore Las Colinas area in Irving, Texas and frankly I was surprised at how much fun stuff there was to do in what I initially thought was just a business park.

We had a chance to tour The Park and T-Mobile Arena, and there’s a lot to love about it. The Chevrolet Corvette is one of the most iconic cars in the world.
