Advice from dad and important tips for men that you wish your dad had shared with you as a kid!
  • As you know, we absolutely love the Travel Backpack from Standard Luggage that we received earlier this month. It's a great addition to our travel gear, but the person behind it is even more interesting. It's not often that we get to talk with the guys who actually create great stuff. After chatting with Ryan a bit through email it became clear that he was more than just a guy who saw a niche in the marketplace. Instead, while he is clearly a business person creating an awesome product he's doing it out of his personal passions, and experience as a seasoned traveler too.

  • Driving safely is one of the most important things you can do, but honestly most of us learn by surviving accidents and "near misses". Sure, your drivers education class that you (and likely your kids) took at school teaches you how to operate the vehicle but it is mostly under ideal conditions. What happens though when the driver is distracted, the road surface is slick, or something causes your car to temporarily lose control? These aren't hypothetical... they are REAL conditions and like anything in life, you can can't simply avoid them. The only solution is to teach drivers how to reduce risk while teaching them how to manage situations when they arise.

  • When it comes to beer, it seems like everyone is an expert. In many ways though, all that REALLY matters is do YOU like it. However, aside from personal preferences there is always someone behind the scenes to make sure that the product is delivered the way that the brew master intended. In the case of Deschutes that's Briana Francisco - QA Brewing Technician for Deschutes Brewery. It's her job to make sure that your beer is as close to perfection and thankfully we don't usually think about that unless something goes wrong. This got me thinking though about all the other things we don't think about with beer...

  • They say that good things come to those who wait and others say patience is a virtue. Honestly, it's tough sometimes to do that with the fast pace that our lives seem to be stuck in these days. Unfortunately, there are a lot of different things in life that you simply can't rush that are worth the wait. So before summer is gone, let's kick back and relax on the beach... eat some delicious bbq... enjoy a sunset... and then have a great night sleep!

  • Airbnb offers a lot of great opportunities for guests to explore new ways to travel and experience things that might not be discoverable if you only stay in hotels. However, homes aren't just "ready" and the best hosts know that they need to prepare properly to make the guest experience fabulous as well as to ensure that their own experience is a positive one.

  • Vegas can be a tricky place if you don't know what you are doing. I know my first few visits weren't nearly as fun as those that followed since I began to learn my way around but I'm in awe of Las Vegas Concierges. There is so much stuff going on in this city that is constantly changing and yet they seem to know everything about it as it happens.

  • Sleep is sometimes taken for granted. It's what happens naturally when you are tired and lay down in your bed. Or at least it should be and it's those times when rest doesn't come naturally that you start to think about why that is and what you can do about it.

  • As a Padres member I attend a LOT of baseball games. I love the sport. For most people, the tickets are just a small fraction of the total cost of going to the game I've gotten good at being frugal. A trip to the concession stand can easily set you back $15 per person and that adds up over the course of a season. It's a tough challenge because everywhere you look you are assaulted by opportunities to spend money on souvenirs, food, drinks, and other things. These are a few of my favorite tips to help you save money and be more healthy at the ball game. The good news is that while this is specifically about baseball - most of these tips will work great for other sporting events such as football, hockey, and basketball too.

  • Thanks to Neutrogena (Landon Donovan is a spokesperson for them), we got the opportunity to ask some questions from this incredible athlete and MLS star.

  • Today we're talking with Brad Lovell who is a Baja 1000 champion and BFGoodrich ambassador about his love of driving and exploring awesome places.

  • Bring Out the Bold - that's the rally call for LISTERINE and so I would encourage all of you to try something new this summer. To lead by example, I did something I've wanted to do for a while but is completely outside my normal routine. I attended the Electric Daisy Carnival in Vegas. For those of you who know me well, it might come as a surprise that I would attend an EDM festival like this and probably more so that I had an amazing time. That's part of the fun of being BOLD though!

  • So, you're getting ready explore the great American continent this summer and you have dreams of crystal clear mountain streams and long straight desert roads ahead of you. Planning "where to go" is only half the equation though. Unfortunately summer poses all sorts of challenges to consider, but with a little planning you're sure to have a great time and build memories that will last a lifetime.

  • We seem to idolize men for their athletic prowess or ability to perform popular music, but there are others that we sometimes forget. These great explorers chose to do something bold and explore, innovate, and conquer industries so they could do things no other man had done before.

  • Better sleep is something we all need. We all try desperately to get it. Most of don't, though. That's because better sleep isn't just a matter of going to bed earlier. Getting better, restful sleep requires a little planning. Although it's a bit of a pain, that extra quality sleep makes life so much better all the way around.

  • If you’re thinking about taking some exciting trips on the road this summer, it’s important to do whatever you can to help save money at the gas pump. Earlier this spring, we were amazed at how far we could go on one tank of gas while driving the Avalon Hybrid, but with these tips we could have gone even further. Now it's up to you to make an impact and maximize your gas mileage for your summer road trips.

  • I don’t usually talk about sex, but for the past few months I’ve been enjoying great sleep in a Reverie Sleep System. The reality though, is that sleep isn’t the only thing that we do in our bed and I’m sure that’s true for most of you guys as well. When selecting a bed there are so many options and how comfortable you are laying down to sleep isn’t the only thing to consider …

  • This summer, it's time to learn how to party like a man - and that means being able to wake up the next morning and go to work, mow the lawn, or relax with the kids. To do that right, it means that you might need to change your drinking patterns but you can still have fun. Years ago I used to be able to drink beers and margaritas with little to no consequences. Unfortunately my body just isn't as forgiving these days, so here are a few tips that those of you like me can employ to help make this year a bit more fun and enjoyable!

  • The weather is getting warmer and memorial day weekend is coming up quick! If you are one of the millions of boaters around the country, that probably means you are getting ready to take your boat out of storage and prepare it for a summer cruising the open water with friends and family. This ultimate sense of freedom doesn't come without some work though.

  • Father's Day is in a couple weeks, so here's some advice to make sure it's special and not just time to get another tie or "hand painted coffee mug".

  • For nearly a century, the revolver was far-and-away the leading firearm for personal defense. Even if you’re not a gun person, you’ve probably heard of the world famous Cold 45, one of the most popular firearms throughout the 20th century. While it’s true that revolvers have since fallen in popularity, have they completely lost their place to semi-automatics? The short answer is it all depends on what you are looking for...
