Gear Guide

  • Like many things this year, the 2020 National Hardware Show was a bit different. Instead of being able to navigate through endless rows of booths and network with folks in the aisles, this year was 100% virtual. Despite that, I sort of enjoyed the experience since it allowed me to connect with vendors by browsing their web profiles and setting up Zoom meetings and I left the conference without the sore back and legs that I normally have. Sadly I also didn't get to take home the bags of swag and samples that normally come with shows like this. However, despite the changing conditions of 2020, the BBQ and tailgating world is still cooking up some fun gadgets and gear. Here's some of our favorites that we found!

  • At a certain point in your passion for hunting, domestic hunting grounds, and North American animals lose their sense of exotic excitement. While many people look to Africa as the next frontier to bag that trophy that none of their buddies has, Australia is also a great option with beautiful landscapes and dangerous, wild, and wonderfully exotic animals such as deer, feral pig, banteng, wild cattle, wild goat, water buffalo,  kangaroo, and even crocodile.

  • Purchasing OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) parts is often recommended by car manufacturers and for a good reason. Only an OEM part can be guaranteed to be the correct part and have the dependability, strength and service life that the manufacturer can put their name behind. However, there are a lot of times when you don't need that... and even more times when an aftermarket part might be superior for your needs. Let's take a look at some pros and cons of using OEM vs aftermarket parts and when you should use one over the other.

  • There’s no time like summer to draw people outdoors to see friends, go on a long hike or hit the town. Aside from good friends and good health, here are four other essential things guys need to take their summer to another level.

  • When beautiful weather arrives, the sandy beaches and warm water start calling. It is easy to get caught up in the excitement of going on a trip to the beach, but it is important to make sure all the necessary gear is packed up. Whether the day will consist of a picnic lunch on the sand and some splashing around in the shallows or involve some more extreme water sports, the basics are good to have. Most of the items below can be picked up at a local store or ordered online should they not be on hand.

  • There are few gifts that can mean quite as much to a recipient as those that show how much you understand them, their passions, and what drives them.

  • In years past, the word "VPN" was dark and scary. It was a word that people associated with hackers and criminals rather than people like you and I. Today though, having a good VPN is essential for protecting your online privacy from being snooped on as well as being able to break through geo-locked services so you can surf like you do back home.

  • I've been privileged to test and review a lot of headsets that are sent our way and frankly, most are simply utilitarian or designed to just look great. There are a lot of options out there that sound good and look great but this is the first time I'm actually having fun with a pair of headphones. Beyond being a talented artist, successful promoter, and entrepreneur - Snoop is about having fun and celebrating the great stuff in life. That spirit carries through to this limited-edition LS50X Snoop Dog headset as well.

  • This week is a big week for traveling by car and hanging out with family and friends. It's also a big week for drinking. Alcohol is as much a part of the Fourth of July as fireworks, hot dogs, and the American flag. This means that if you are driving it's essential to be extra diligent. Not only should you obviously avoid drinking and driving yourself and encourage your friends to do so as well, but watch for drivers that may be exhibiting erratic driving patterns too. • I am rapidly becoming obsessed with Jeeps and off-road trucks. There's a sense of freedom being able to go places others can't that those locked to the pavement will never understand. Unfortunately for our bank accounts, owning a Jeep can be an expensive hobby - but one that is exciting and fun. This goes way beyond the travel aspect and exploring new terrain. It also includes the community and affinity that Jeep owners have for each other. From the nod to the Jeep wave, it's something special. This community tends to attract a lot of interesting individuals who seek freedom and individually. So it should be no surprise that most of these folks are also driven to enhance their rigs. New tires, axles, winches, lifts, even stickers and flags. Owning a Jeep is something special and so here's six things that you should consider when planning an upgrade
