Heather and I - like many couples a couple decades ago - spent our honeymoon at Sandals in Ocho Rios. In the years that followed, many other competitors opened various properties offering a similar concept throughout Jamaica and indeed across the Caribbean too. However, in my mind, there will be only one resort that draws my eye every time I see it's name pop up on a newsfeed and that is Sandals. This time it was because their new Swim-up Rondoval suites are simply one of the coolest concepts that I've ever seen at a resort.

I've had the opportunity to visit a lot of different golf courses and while most are entertaining and have their unique aspects, few have the WOW FACTOR that TPC Danzante Bay does. It's a hidden gem located on the Sea of Cortez, less than a two hour flight from LA, San Diego, and Phoenix. Not only is the course phenomenal - but it's surrounded by some of the best fishing and off-road adventure terrain known to man.

Casa Velas is a boutique hotel located only a 10 minute ride from the Puerto Vallarta airport that offers nightly activities including cigar rolling, tequila tasting, craft beer tasting, and cocktail making, plus includes unlimited golf at three different Puerto Vallarta golf courses. We stayed here as a guest of the hotel and had a fantastic experience that might make this one of our favorite destinations.

There are some parts of the world that are seen as almost exclusively a destination for "romantic getaways", but all too often that simply masks all the other opportunities there. One example of this is Bali. For most Americans, this Indonesian island brings visions of honeymoons on the beach, great food, and unparalleled hospitality. That's there too, but you can also have some great family adventures here as well. We had a chance to talk with the folks at Rimba Jimbaran resort and learn about some of these opportunities. After all, just because you are in one of the most romantic places on Earth doesn't mean you can't enjoy it with kids too!

Heather and I had a wonderful time at Sandals Montego Bay and heartily recommend it to anyone looking for an escape to one of the most fantastic islands in the Caribbean. Sometimes it is tough to select an all inclusive as EVERYTHING can look fantastic from a tourism brochure or website. That's why it is tough to pick a resort sometimes. However, I am THRILLED to say that Sandals is still awesome, even almost ten years after we stayed in their sister property in Ocho Rios for our honeymoon.

Egypt isn’t just about the crumbling ruins sprawled out across the deserts, there is plenty more than crumbling going on there. Some of the world’s most bucket-list worthy dives and water sports are in Egypt’s Red Sea, and the modern beach resorts themselves are more than enough reason to head there for your lads holiday to Egypt. 

On my recent cruise on the Carnival Victory, one of my favorite stops was visiting the island of Barbados and the opportunity to check out the fantastic Turtle Beach Resort. 

One of the tricky things about finding a good resort is finding a good balance between great staff, activities, and amenities. I have to say that I was super impressed by the island of Barbados, and I would recommend Turtle Beach Resort for a great mancation - or for our UK readers, a Lads Holiday! (Barbados is apparently very popular with UK vacationers and has regularly scheduled direct flights from London).
