As someone who does a lot of outdoor activities such as riding in UTVs, fishing, and exploring off road trails one of my greatest fears is breaking my phone. For the first few months of my time living in Toledo, taking care of my Father-in-Law, the focus at home was on my wife and I's comfort but now that Jim is out of the hospital and living at home again, Heather and I have been working to make his home environment as safe and easy for him to both live... as well as ultimately become independent again. I've been using the Dynabook Portege X30L laptop for a few months now. It was initially something that they sent me to try out with working remotely - at the beach, in the car, and even under an apple tree where I spent many Friday's this fall escaping the heat downtown. That's what I love about this Legion Y530 laptop that Lenovo sent me to check out as part of our holiday gifts for guys. I'll admit, I'm not a seasoned tech reviewer and despite my previous life being a hardcore gamer - those days were years behind me. Until this week anyhow when I was "forced" to test this laptop out... for research purposes of course. 

These days, most of us rely on our phones to some extent. It’s just part of modern life. It can be a big expense if you approach it in the wrong way though. Too many people spend far more than they should on things like their phone contract and everything else associated with their smartphone, but it shouldn’t be that way. Just because you need your phone, that doesn’t mean you should accept spending more than you have to on it.

I get a lot of pitches for earphones and there is quite literally a box under my desk with the discarded samples that I offer to friends with they come over. These new ones from Phiaton though have earned a spot on my desk and especially when I'm on the go. Simply put, they sound great, are comfortable in my ear, light enough that they don't feel awkward on my neck and with the active noise canceling I can quite literally turn off distracting noises around me.

Typically when I travel, I have a carry-on bag and backpack. Sometimes though, for quick overnight trips I honestly don't need that much space and it would be nice to travel with just a single bag. Unfortunately my backpack wasn't designed for clothes and my carry-on bag certainly wasn't designed for carrying my laptop and paperwork. 

A good pair of wireless earbuds can be hard to find. That is even more true when you consider the wide spectrum of prices. At first I was skeptical of these new total wireless earbuds from Tranya since it was frankly a brand I wasn't familiar with and on top of that the price is incredibly low compared to others that I've tested at double or triple the price. However, I'm happy to report that the T10 earbuds by Tranya manage to put their focus in all of the right areas and these are a must buy if you are looking for a sub-$100 audio solution.

I’ve been a Jeep Wrangler owner for years, and I wouldn’t trade the vehicle for anything; It’s just too much fun. My love affair with Jeep began with the growth of my family. A few months ago the folks at Autonomous sent me one of their Standing Desks and a great new office chair too. It was an interesting challenge trying this out since initially, it seemed to be more of a gimmick but then quickly proved to be something valuable that frankly should be the standard, instead of being perceived as an expensive luxury.

I've been privileged to test and review a lot of headsets that are sent our way and frankly, most are simply utilitarian or designed to just look great. There are a lot of options out there that sound good and look great but this is the first time I'm actually having fun with a pair of headphones.
