Travel ideas for mancations, guys weekends, and romantic getaways
  • Conventionally you might think about hiking or using Jeep trails to go explore the history of the wild west mining boomtowns. However, Virginia City, Nevada has a bunch of bike trails that you can take to explore the history of what was once a vibrant mining town and today is one of the top places anywhere in the world to go explore an authentic wild west town that somehow manages to be family-friendly despite it's rough and tumble appearance.

  • Colorado is known world-wide for its excellent ski resorts, but you don't have to wait for cold weather to visit this amazing state. Outdoor activities abound all year long. Let's take a look at some of the favorites among adventure seekers.

  • Vegas bachelor parties are the stuff of legends and that's why you see them so often in movies like The Hangover and even Last Vegas. Simply put, there is no other place on earth with all the things for a perfect bachelor party like you will find in Las Vegas. Unfortunately, with opportunity comes the chance for danger and too often when you think "Vegas Bachelor Party" the image of topless dancers and dangerous debauchery comes to mind, but there's more to Vegas than that. You can still have a great time and send your buddy out in style without pissing off the bride (too much).

  • Most guys who are new to wine think of iconic destinations like Napa and Sonoma as the places to go for wine. While I am a huge fan of California wines... the reality is that there are great wine regions all over the country. Some such as Lake Michigan Shore have gained prominence in recent years, while others such as the Snake River Valley AVA just west of Boise are lesser-known. What's great about these "undiscovered wine country" getaways is that they tend to be less expensive, more relaxed, and offer other opportunities to build a perfect getaway without making wine the singular focus.

  • Preparing a travel budget is one of the most important parts of being a happy and successful traveler and even though road trips can be less expensive than other travel options, that doesn't mean you don't have to prepare a budget. In fact there are several unique variables here that need to be taken into consideration - not the last of which is fuel price and consumption rate.

  • Denver, Colorado sprawls across the eastern side of the beautiful Rocky Mountains. Breathtaking views have led the city of nearly 3 million to become known as the "Mile High City." A combination of Old Western charm and urban sophistication, Denver is a mecca for sports events and thrilling outdoor adventures. Serving as a starting point for skiers, the Denver slopes can be accessed from Highway 70 West.

  • When you and the boys need to get away, consider Maine as your next mancation. Maine is the perfect place to disconnect from your daily responsibilities -- the lack of Wi-Fi in some remote areas of the state might force you to disconnect. You'll probably see more pine trees than people. No, seriously, 83 percent of this Northeastern state is covered by forests. Apart from the state's natural wonders, Maine also has a rich cultural history to explore. Let's just say that they don't call Maine “Vacationland” for nothing.

  • As more cities, states and countries take steps to pass adult-use marijuana legislation, more cities, states and countries are seeing an increase in tourism from travelers 21-and-up who want to experience legal weed. Weed tourism is a new and exciting industry that is boosting the economies of some overlooked corners of the world. If you are eager to plan your next vacation — and you love indulging in the good green herb — you should consider visiting one of the following top weed destinations.

  • Dallas and Fort Worth make an ideal place for a mancation. After all, Dallas and Fort Worth is the third-largest metropolitan area in the state of Texas. It is known for excellent food, cowboys and wonderful sights to visit. It would be an understatement to say that there are great experiences to be had. Here are four options that can definitely enhance any mancation in the Dallas and Fort Worth area.

  • Camping is a wonderful way to spend your vacation and connect with nature. On the surface, simply the act of heading outdoors seems like it would be good for the environment. However, all too often I see people simply treat camping as an outdoor party and it is anything but an ecologically sound alternative to heading to a fancy resort. When done properly though, this family-friendly style of vacation can easily be a great way to spend time exploring a new area and connecting with nature as well as your companions in meaningful ways.

  • Water is life. It is where we evolved from and in fact most of the body is in fact water. Humans, in general, have a love for being close to the water, and for centuries it has also been a primary method of transportation and commerce. As a result, some of the greatest cities in the world were all built on the shores of lakes, rivers, and oceans around the world. This is something that transcends cultures so that's one of the reasons I love traveling. It's something that unites all of us!

  • Michigan is one of my favorite states to explore and quite possibly one of the best states in terms of diversity of things to do. From industrial tours to pure, unspoiled lands for fishing, hunting, offroading, and hiking, to some of the best food anywhere in the United States... it's all here in Michigan. Sadly, we're all locked up right now and traveling isn't something we can do but the folks at Pure Michigan have put together an awesome collection of experiences that while not the same as actually sinking your teeth into a Traverse City cherry pie or swimming in the clean clear water of Lake Michigan... does a darn good job of whetting our appetite for travel (hopefully!) later this summer.

  • The 2020 Lexus LC 500 first attracted my attention at the 2020 Chicago Auto Show for it's absolutely stunning "Flare Yellow" color and it's beautiful lines. I didn't know much more about the vehicle other than that, but I knew I wanted to experience it in person as soon as possible. Thankfully, the folks at Lexus had one available. This isn't exactly a road trip kind of car, though I was quite impressed by the size of the trunk and the level of comfort in the cockpit... even for a big guy like me. So, our plan was to do a day trip exploring San Diego beach towns.

  • Virtual travel experts Virtually Visiting have created the world’s first four-day holiday, that you can experience from the comfort of your own home. This arctic adventure includes a visit to the ICEHOTEL, Snowmobile Adventure, Aurora Safari Camp, Treehotel, and other cool places for an adventure!

  • There's no better destination for guys looking for a petrol and adrenaline-fueled guys getaway than Dubai. This is probably the single best spot in the world if you want to see exotic cars of all types, colors, and shapes from police cars to million-dollar cars parked at the mall... and then there are the one-of-a-kind offroad beasts too. While most of you are far from that level of wealth, Dubai makes a perfect destination to visit if you are looking to see some amazing sights and even wrap your hands around the steering wheel for a bucket-list adventure!

  • For those of you who have dreamed of one day attending the Baja 1000, I've got an alternative closer to home. The Mint 400, also known as The Great American Off-Road Race might not be as well known as the Baja 500 and Baja 1,000 but it is an awesome experience and opportunity to meet your favorite drivers, manufacturers, and be a part of one of the greatest off-road races in the world.

  • The coronavirus has wreaked havoc—not just on our personal lives—but also on sports, entertainment, and music industries to name but a few. One huge reshuffle is the postponing of Euro 2020, a massive European soccer tournament that is almost as big as the World Cup, by one year to Euro 2021. Don't worry though, while the delay may be frustrating to fans - it's going to be an awesome celebration we can all look forward to next year!

  • Italy and Germany come out at the top of the list when thinking about an ultimate mancation driving experience. However, the Swiss have some great roads and a fantastic heritage and passion for driving too. In fact, there's no better auto show in the world than the Geneva Auto Show, nor are there more beautiful roads found anywhere in the world. Let's take a look at what you can experience on a Swiss Alps ultimate driving experience.

  • Tucson, Arizona is one of the hidden gems for a guys trip. It’s a perfect distance for road trips from Phoenix and while a bit farther from San Diego and Los Angeles, it’s an easy drive for guys looking for golf, history, culture, and of course great Mexican Food!

  • Air travel can be stressful, even for the most experienced flyers. Unfortunately, airlines seem dedicated to creating the most convoluted systems to manage the millions of passengers that fly each year and most are left scratching their heads wondering why a few lucky ones seem to remain cool, calm, and relaxed. The following travel hacks will equip you with all the necessary information in case your flight is canceled, how you can refresh at the airport, and so much more information.
