Travel ideas for mancations, guys weekends, and romantic getaways
  • For generations, people have escaped to the mountains of North Carolina to avoid the stresses of everyday life. While some settled here in the mountains permanently and become the subject of legend and myth, others come here with the intention of resetting, recharging, and reconnecting with what it means to be man in a society that is ever changing. These mountains possess untold beauty all year round but are especially enjoyable in the summer and fall. Whether you are looking for fishing, hunting, craft beer, artisanal food, or just fresh air - it's all hear and ready for you to take your share.

  •  Looking for a fun golf getaway in the Caribbean? Ocean Club Resorts might be the place and is located right along the award winning Grace Bay Beach and within a short walking or driving distance from Provo’s 18-hole championship golf course.

  • There’s no right or wrong time to visit the Land of the Long White Cloud. However, if you’re dropping into the country during winter, you’ll find a spectacular landscape carpeting in a thick layer of snow. This throws up all sorts of possibilities for outdoor activities, particularly for those who want to get their heart pumping and adrenaline spiking. Here’s our pick of the five best things to do in winter for adrenaline junkies.

  • We are all familiar with country clubs and yacht clubs... people purchase property and memberships there because they are passionate about a sport such as golf or sailing. However, there's way more options than just those two hobbies. Over the past few months I've had the chance to check out a few different examples of this including fly-in resorts just for pilots, country clubs for sports car fans, and then of course there's buying your very own slice of heaven to go fishing or hunting on. Whatever your passion, there's probably an option out there that's perfect for you!

  • A romantic getaway to Hawaii is one of those ideas that most people only dream of... it's a distant place with exotic sights, food, culture and amazing beauty. For many people though, the price is a major factor that prevents you from exploring this land. Luckily, right now is a GREAT time to visit. Airfare is especially cheap and by being creative with online booking sites like Hotwire.com you can save a ton of money on hotels, cars, and flights as well as complete vacation packages too. Even when I'm not sponsored by the company this is my GO TO site for finding awesome hotel deals any time of year.

  • What happens in winter to the wide-open lands that are so good to go hiking and off-road driving? Does it simply go to sleep, only to be woken up again in the spring? NO! It turns into a winter playground ready for snowmobiling. One of the best places in the United States for the ultimate snowmobile adventure is Montana. Let’s take a look at what you can expect here!

  • New Orleans is one of my favorite cities to visit since it is fabulously unique and authentically weird. It's not that moder hipster weird... it's that, "holy cow, this shouldn't work but it does" weird. It's also one of the most spooky cities to visit - any time of year. From voodoo to vampires, the supernatural is just part of life here and it's a place that people of all walks of life can enjoy if they are ready to just open their mind a bit. Here are some of my favorite weird and spooky places to visit in New Orleans.

  • Any time of year is a great time to visit Disneyland but Fall and especially Halloween is an extra special time of year here. The park is all dressed up and there's some awesome new treats each year plus a few unique attractions that are only available for a few short months before it goes into full "Holiday" mode. Disneyland gave us a couple passes to check out the fun, so we stopped by the park and did a quick walk through of a few different areas that you won't want to miss. Let's check it out!

  • People have always been obsessed with the unexplained and the paranormal. The U.S. is home to hundreds of eerie and equally tragic haunted places. Planning a mancation sometime soon? Make yours unique and exciting by making it a haunting holiday! Check out these amazing haunted places!

  • Going on a safari is truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience since you’re presented with the opportunity to see some of the world’s most impressive wildlife in their natural surroundings, experience local African culture and visit some of the most beautiful places on the planet. Unlike other types of trips, planning a safari presents its own unique set of challenges, since there’s so much to see and do, and only a limited amount of time to squeeze it all in. Equally challenging is deciding where you want to go and when, as well as what to pack.

  • The Hawaiian Islands are best known for stunning landscapes, sun-soaked beaches, and some of the best surfing spots in the world. However, both it's ancient and colonial history are closely tied to the islands as a source of agricultural bounty and the more I sampled this, the more excited I got to learn more. From pineapples and sugarcane to craft beer, spirits, and even ranches raising some of the world's best beef - this is an area you won't want to miss exploring during your next visit.

  • The California desert is a weird and wonderful place full of mystical energy and people drawn there by it. That's why it makes such an amazing place to explore since there are stories and places that seem almost too weird to be true. One of these that I heard about earlier this year is simply known as Giant Rock. As you can imagine, it is indeed a giant rock out in the middle of the desert but over the decades it also served as a gathering point for UFO conventions, a guy even lived below it (before blowing himself up), and before that it was considered a sacred site by the indians inhabiting the area. It is also a great trail for beginners looking to get familiarized with off road driving since it's only three miles long and you'll have cell phone reception the entire time... but you feel like you entered a whole different world when you get there.

  • For many guys, their first bachelor party was one dominated by debauchery and youthful indiscretion. Unfortunately though, not all marriages last and here you are a few years later, wiser, and ready to take your buddies on an epic golf adventure. There's no better place than exploring the British Isles for the ultimate golf mancation. This is a great way to combine luxury, an exotic location, beautiful scenery, history, beer... and yes golf together in a way that creates memories that will last a lifetime.

  • Looking for a reason to visit Bermuda for your next guys weekend or mancation adventure? Well, there's obvious golf, food, beautiful beaches, and fishing... but now there's a new Bermuda Triangle: Unlock the Secrets exhibit at the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute and our friends at Fairmont Southampton have put together this great mancation package to celebrate.

  • People who enjoy traveling always enjoy going somewhere new. One popular choice for foreign travel is to visit Iceland. This beautiful country, founded by Danes long ago, offers a rich history, interesting culture, and beautiful scenery.

  • Earlier this summer, I embarked on a journey that would complete my goal of visiting all 50 states. Alaska is a bucket list destination for many and Norwegian Cruise Line was kind enough to host me on this journey. Aside from a quick two-day preview on Norwegian Bliss (their newest ship at the time), I'd never sailed on Norwegian. Compared to other lines who have dominated Alaska for the past several decades, NCL isn't the first name that comes to mind when it comes to Alaska. However, that's all changing now that they have made Alaska a key destination by positioning two of their newest ships there - NCL Bliss and NCL Joy. When planning an Alaskan cruise it's important to examine what sort of experience you are looking for. Based on our experience cruising through Alaska's Inside Passage, you can't go wrong sailing Freestyle on Norwegian!

  •  Skagway Alaska is one of the most popular cruise ports in Alaska and while it is a town - the area is also a National Park known as the "Skagway: Gateway to the Klondike". This is due to the port's proximity to White Pass where thousands of miners would journey on their way to the gold fields. Today though, the town of Skagway is a fun place to go and explore both the rich - and sordid! - gold rush history as well as the amazing natural beauty offered by the surrounding territory. What makes this all even more unique is that Skagway was one of the original Alaskan cruise ports - dating back to 1923 so there's that history and culture as well!

  • Although it's only 90 miles from Florida, Cuba had severe travel restrictions for more than 60 years. In 2014, President Barack Obama lifted some of those restrictions and made it easier for Americans to visit the country. Between then and 2017, tourism was on the rise in the country. Now, in 2018, new restrictions set forth by the Trump Administration has some people confused, but the reality is that traveling to the area is still quite possible and popular. If you want to visit the country, it helps to know which areas have the most to offer.

  • Unlike some cruise destinations in Alaska, Ketchikan is a destination that is thriving beyond simply cruise tourism. Luckily for cruise visitors, this means that there is a diverse selection of awesome cruise excursion options ranging from exploring Native American culture to hiking and outdoor adventures, as well as obviously fishing for salmon! Ketchikan after all is the "Salmon Capital of the World"!

  • When it comes to fruity tropical drinks, the classic Mai Tai is among the most iconic. It's the Pacific Islands version of the classic Caribbean Daiquiri... or is it? Ironically this classic drink actually originated in California during the tiki bar craze and while two men lay claim to having created it - I DON'T CARE - because the ones found at Don The Beachcomber are the best I've had. It's a more complex recipe and the time and effort is worth it. Here's the recipe so you can make it at home.
